She first tried Yoga in the Latin Aero class of Kae Montgomery back in 2003 in her hometown Hamamatsu, Japan. She holds the Certificates of Beauty-Yoga and Hatha-Yoga from IYC (International Yoga Center Japan) founded by Ken Harakuma. Since earning the certificates in 2012 she has been teaching Yoga / Yoga with dance movement upon request. She teaches in German, Japanese and English.
She also earned a Tanzkult Tribal Fusion Bellydance Diploma in 2012 in Switzerland where she now lives. From 2011 until 2015 she has been a member of the Tribal Fusion Group Mandala-Tribe where she takes part in a group dance as well as a solo dancer in various dance events and shows in Switzerland, Germany and Japan. It was during this period of education and shows that she realized the benefit of combining yoga in her practice to dramatically improve her core strength and flexibility, which in turn improves her dance.
Based on her own experience, she is convinced that Yoga is an integral act, especially for postpartum as her posture changed after the period of pushing Baby-buggy and carrying baby all the time. When she was working full time in the office, Yoga was a lifesaver, as long sitting made the back, shoulder and neck area became stiffed.
Akiko enjoys sharing her experience and knowledge and is very passionate about yoga. She believes that her own experience as an office worker, dancer and a mother to maintain good posture, figure and flexibility is worth sharing. The encouragement from her trial-students also convinced her to keep teaching Yoga & Dance Mix after earning the Diploma.
